Total train wreck show last night. I don’t feel all THAT bad about it, as it was our first rehearsal but like, at a bar in front of people. Get to go through the torture tonight as well. Hee HAW.

I am down under 250 lbs (113 kg) for the first time since like, 1987.

it feels pretty good, but what do I do with all these XL tshirts that are all dumpy on me now? The problems you wish you had.

Also, Killing Joke continues to kick ass.

Killing Joke put out a new record, Hosannas From The Basement Of Hell (cover art), when I wasn’t paying attention. So far it is kicking major ass…Here is a (puke barf crap piss suckass) wmv video.

On the other hand, here is a not so suckass mp3 (implosion.mp3). It is requisitely loud and pretty at the same time. Wonderful! I fucking love them.

AURORA WATCH: A solar wind stream is heading toward Earth, and it could spark a display of auroras when it arrives on Oct. 20th or 21st. Check http://spaceweather.com for updates.

This torrent caught my attention (made me giggle). I’ll see if it’s worthy of the name.

Weekend, stuff

The hockey game on Saturday with sonic kinda sucked, the Kings could not pass to save their lives. It costed them. 4-1 trouncing by Dallas. At least they scored at all on a power play, and there was a good fight instigated by our own Sean Avery.

Saturday night I went with robot boy to this random girl’s birthday party. Well not so random, I’d met her a couple of days earlier at El Diablos. She also happens to be awfully cute. I wonder if she’ll let me touch her boobs. Who can say!

Sunday was spent agonizing over MPI and C. It turns out I had some fundamentally wrong ideas about how the message passing library works, which I suspected when I sent positive integers to be summed and I got back negative values. I won’t bore you with details, but I will say that it helps to understand loop splitting techniques.

I also sold the Marshall half stack on Friday. I am a little sad to see it go, but I have to finance a trip to see my father in Florida over the holidays. It’s going to be missed…but I haven’t had it out to really crank it up in over a year so I hope this guy in Wisconsin will put it to good use.

I got to hang out with my hillbilly pal Brett Cain last night. He was playing a little show and dropped by to eat some pizza and chat. What a great guy. If you get a chance to see him perform in Los Angeles or Wheeling WV, don’t pass it up.

I guess I’ll go back to cranking on the cluster. Cheers!

Etymology: Grog

October 12th, 2006 by mark

grog
1770 (implied in groggy “intoxicated”), supposedly an allusion to Old Grog, nickname of Edward Vernon (1684-1757), British admiral who wore a grogram (q.v.) cloak and who in August 1740 ordered his sailors’ rum to be diluted.

So, it’s watered down rum. Neat! I could look at http://www.etymonline.com/ for hours.
