I ate pastrami last night with Lori at Canters. More specifically, the Canters Reuben. The BOMB. That stuff will be the death of me, but I’ll die with a smile on my face and my pastrami hole filled.

I got a metric fuckton of jsp/servlet work done yeseterday. I might actually get this school project finished on time. Just a simple CMS for the CS department, mysql / tomcat / etc. I also made one of the most-resource intensive page counters in history: it’s a jsp that makes a database connection to increment a field every time someone loads the page. This thing will never see the light of day anyway, and I feel like there isn’t much difference (at this level of traffic) between a database call to update a field vs opening a filehandle and writing to disk. If it ever got under any significant load it would most likely barf, but whatever. Now that I think about it a little, the jsp is compiled, and maybe the instantiated object re-uses the database connection…Maybe this isn’t so bad. I wonder about the persistence of the db connection after the initial compilation. I will have to investigate.

It was 91 degrees in Los Angeles yesterday. Sooner or later, the idea of “Winter” will be something we only see on television or hear about from tourists. Happpy turkey week…I’m driving to Palo Alto this week to see the folks. I will return on Saturday with burritos for the lucky few who I consider close (enough) friends…You know who you are.

In the ongoing saga of bitt..BUYING LEGAL DVDS of semi-obscure heavy metal, I’ve come across two King Diamond items. One is of a concert apparently in Gothenberg from 1987. It begins with our favorite King Diamond taking what seems to be some sort of baby doll out of a box, saying some satanic gibberish, then stabbing the doll several times. What does he have against dolls, we’ll probably never know. It was SCARY AAAAHHH (in King Diamond style).

EDIT: I quickly found THIS PICTURE of our guy doing something bad with a doll. See it’s not just that one time!

ok I need coffee bye.

OZZY TORRENT

November 11th, 2006 by mark

I would never advocate copyright infringement, but I cannot believe I found THIS 640 MEG OZZY OSBOURNE BARK AT THE MOON TOUR 84 MPEG TORRENT…Featuring JAKE E LEE. This was the first big concert I went to, I recall holding my brother on my shoulders so he could see the show too.

its fucking GREAT. As James might say, HOLY SHIT!!!

TCT vs NASA: FIGHT

November 11th, 2006 by mark

I find it amusing that the NASA channel (376) is followed by TCTWLD (”Broadcasting The Gospel”, 377) on the Directv listings for Los Angeles. Coincidence?

I clearly cannot be left unsupervised. I broke the garbage disposal AND the shower head today. A shot glass got down into the disposal and I ran it. Cunch Crunch Crunch. Now the thing won’t turn on. Showerhead: trying to wrench the head off to clean the grit out and get uber pressure, I snapped it off at the stem. Way to go, spaz.

On the other hand, I replaced a part on my motorcycle that wasn’t broken. At least I know it’s not the starter solenoid, now.

I should just give up today. That’s my plan.
